Helping Animals Help People

Irwin says hello!

Irwin says hello!

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office Animal Farm is home to over 150 animals. We provide a haven for animals which have been abandoned, abused, confiscated or donated. We provide a local zoo for children and families who otherwise would have to travel 150 miles to see creatures such as these. We provide a rehabilitative activity for jail inmates to help them reintegrate with society.

The farm is open the 2nd and 4th Sundays each month from 1-3 PM, and is free of charge to the public.

Bring the family and come visit the animals at the farm, including horses, a steer, pigs, goats, sheep, bunnies, alligators, tropical birds, kinkajous, Sloths, a Lemur, Kramer the Emu, a family of Patagonian Cavys, tortoises and turtles, snakes and many more. It is free of charge and donations are appreciated.

The farm is located just off of College Road, on Stock Island, at the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters complex. Groups may schedule special tours at the farm by calling Farmer Jeanne Selander at 305-293-7300.
